about
These days, our lives are forever lived in the public eye. We share photos of the food we eat, voice our innermost secrets, bare our bad habits, pimp our pets and air our dirty laundry. Ceaselessly, unrelentingly, unthinkably…24/7 on Facebook, TikTok, Snapchat, Twitter and/or Instagram. We no longer spend our time with real friends and live in the moment. Instead we focus on digital buddies we’ve never met, who we desperately try to court, to connect for just a moment and get that all-important like that validates who we are. We are, all of us, truly, madly and deeply…dying on the vine.
The cats, the food, the remedies…your kids, your life, your family…can’t you see the irony…of non-exclusive privacy?
The new Unify Separate single ‘Dying on the Vine’, which channels classic synthpop with acidic social commentary, is released on 15 January.
Unify Separate pairs Geneva singer Andrew Montgomery with Lowe frontman Leo Josefsson. They won praise for their 2019 debut album ‘First Contact’, a unique blend of indie songwriting and electronic film music.
lyrics
Dying on the Vine
A thousand likes
How many lies?
These are the times
When you will conquer, or divide
A billion ways
To die inside
As you confide
The secret's out
You have no life
It leaves me cold
It leaves me blind
The little things
You leave behind
It makes me sick
It makes me tired
The game you play
To be admired
I know your kind
A troubled mind
You're out of time
The secret's out
You have no life
It leaves me cold
It leaves me blind
The little things
You leave behind
It makes me sick
It makes me tired
The game you play
To be admired
But I can't leave you
Even though I try
I just can't leave you
Dying on the vine
The cats, the food, the remedy
Your kids, your life, your family
Can't you see the irony
In non exclusive privacy?
It leaves me cold
It leaves me blind
The little things
You leave behind
It makes me sick
It makes me tired
The game you play
To be admired
But I can't leave you
Even though I try
I just can't leave you
Dying on the vine
(I can't leave you)
The cats, the food, the remedy
(Leave you)
Your kids, your life, your family
(I jsut can't leave you)
Can't you see the irony
Dying on the
Dying on the vine

Guess Geneva didn't get much coverage in Select or NME or glossed them over at that time. Glad to ev found em now and standout track so far is 'Dead Giveaway' soaring tender voice and "I better keep up with beauty" following guitar line. It was originally a single B-side track (remember when some of those were more favorable than A-sides for you? I do. Like finding buried treasure ;). "Ma I found gold!". robertbdavis
